Laser Skin Resurfacing with Erbium Laser

Old City MedSpa is now offering Erbium Laser skin resurfacing! Here’s what you need to know: Erbium Laser resurfacing is designed to remove surface-level and moderately deep lines and wrinkles on the face, hands, neck, or chest. In addition, Erbium Laser has become the gold standard for treating melasma and other skin imperfections.

One of the benefits of Erbium Laser resurfacing is the minimal side effects such as swelling, bruising, and redness. Due to the less invasive approach to skin resurfacing,  your recovery time should be faster than with other laser resurfacing treatments. In most cases, recovery time is about 7-10 days.

HOW DOES IT WORK

The Erbium laser works by emitting a wavelength of high energy light; when focused on a certain skin condition this energy will create heat and destroy cells, this process is called photothermolysis. Utilizing photothermolysis through the Erbium Laser causes the destroyed cells to shed, promoting new cell growth and a boost in collagen and elastin. Once the healing process is complete, there should be noticeable improvements in the skin such as; smooth texture, lightened appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and brighter, even complection. Best results are typically achieved in about 3 treatments.

WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR ERBIUM LASER

The Erbium Laser is safe for all skin types and can treat many skin concerns. You are most likely considered a candidate for this treatment as long as you and your skin are in healthy condition and can heal properly. If you want to improve the tone and texture of your skin, then Erbium Laser skin resurfacing is for you.

BEFORE TREATMENT

It is important that you consult with a professional before seeking Erbium Laser treatments. Remember, there is a small amount of down time with this procedure so it is important to protect your skin and follow post procedure instructions carefully. You should discontinue the use of  retinol or photo-sensitivity causing prescriptions 1-2 weeks prior to treatment. Finally, you should avoid sun exposure 2 weeks before and after treatment, this includes sunless tanner prior to treatment.

Happy resurfacing!
