You might be young and just beginning to experience the woes of acne breakouts, or you might have had your experience with acne and be left with scarring. Whereever you are in your acne journey there are treatments available for you. Prevention, treatment and repair are all possible with one or a combination of these four approaches.
#1) IPL treatment:
The intense pulsed light (often referred to as a laser) is an incredibly effective treatment for current breakouts. The light pin points the pigment in the bacteria that causes acne and kills the microorganisms. Many people experience great results within days of their first treatment, and continued treatment can prevent further breakouts. This treatment can be done up to twice weekly for 8-10 visits then maintenance.
The IPL treatment can also be used to address pigmented acne scarring with excellent results. Laser treatment for acne scars works by pulsing intense light into the skin, layer by layer. In doing so, it encourages the production of collagen and prompts cells to begin regenerating. The body’s natural healing process sloughs off the damaged tissue, revealing fresh skin underneath. If you’ve got vascular acne scars, or those red or pink marks commonly found on fairer skin tones, IPL is the treatment for you. This treatment can be done up to twice weekly for 8-10 visits then maintenance.
Excellent for deep and pitted acne scars.
This treatment involves swiping a pen with super-tiny needles all over your face, causing microscopic injuries to your skin. Because of the little punctures from the needles, your skin is forced to repair itself, which increases collagen and elastin production, minimizes the look of pores, and smooths out skin. 3-6 treatments are typically recommended spaced about 4 weeks apart.
#3) Acne Facial:
This option is great to lessen symptoms for current breakouts, and is a less aggressive option than the previous two. It is highly recommended for less intense (but still frustrating) breakouts. This facial is antibacterial and clarifying to treat current breakouts and prevent future ones. Once a month facials are strongly recommended for preventing acne.
Microdermabrasion add-on: Great add-on before treatments to open pores and allow the treatment to penetrate deeper therefore having a greater effect.
#4) Beta Peel (Salicylic Acid):
This treatment is also less aggressive than the IPL, but still a very effective treatment for all types of acne and scars. A series of 6 peels are typically recommended spaced about 4 weeks apart to treat acne using products designed to work with your natural biochemistry to combat problem areas.
