Cellulite: What it is and how we can help?

Cellulite is a condition in which the skin has a dimpled, lumpy appearance. It occurs when fat deposits push through the connective tissue beneath the skin.  It usually affects the buttocks and thighs but can also occur in other areas. Between 80 and 90 percent of women will probably experience cellulite. Hormones likely play an important role in cellulite development.  One theory is that as estrogen in women decreases in the approach to menopause, blood flow to the connective tissue under the skin also decreases.  Lower circulation means less oxygen in the area, resulting in lower collagen production. Fat cells also enlarge as estrogen levels fall. These factors combine to make the fat deposits more pronounced.  As the fat under the skin protrudes through weakening connective tissue, the familiar dimpling effect results. Age also causes the skin to become less elastic, thinner, and more likely to sag resulting in cellulite.

How Many Treatments Will I need?

Most areas require 6-8 weekly treatments.

What are the treatments like?

Treatments are painless  and noninvasive with no downtime.  You will feel some heat and a light vacuum massage.  Most people really enjoy the treatment. Treatments take only 14-20 minutes per area.  The more water you drink the better the outcome and quicker the treatment will go.

How Long Will the Results Last?

Results of body contouring depends largely on the lifestyle of the person.  If you eat well, exercise and drink plenty of water and do not gain or lose excess weight, then your results should last permanently.  However, everyone is different and some people prefer to keep optimal results by coming back for a maintenance session about every 6 months or as needed.
