What is Microneedling or SkinPen Anyway?

Microneedling is a small pen with tons of tiny needles that penetrate the top layer of you skin resulting in thousands of micro-wounds.  This tricks your body into quickly building more collagen and fills in lines, wrinkles and acne scars or scars of any kind. Skincare products penetrate deeper and have a more aggressive effect and over the course of a year your skin continues to develop and grow more collagen.  This treatment combined with a special collagen boosting skincare product, called Surge, increases your collagen (skins thickness) by over 400% when combined with 6 treatments. It’s truly an incredible treatment! Here’s more information below on microneedling.

WHAT DOES MICRONEEDLING TREAT?

  • Fine lines

  • Large pores

  • Acne scars

  • Active acne

  • Stretch marks

  • Discoloration and pigment issues

  • Skin texture issues

  • Collagen stimulation

  • Dull skin

WHO CAN DO MICRONEEDLING?

Microneedling is an amazing treatment because it can be used on all skin types and Fitzpatrick tones. Anyone can greatly benefit from this treatment, whether the desire is to correct acne scars or just get a fresh, glowing look.

Microneedling is best done in a series of a minimum of three treatments, typically three to four weeks apart. Many patients require up to six sessions to achieve optimal results.

WHERE ON THE BODY CAN MICRONEEDLING BE DONE?

  • Face

  • Neck

  • Chest

  • Stretch Marks

  • Scars

  • Anywhere you have specific skin concerns

IS MICRONEEDLING PAINFUL?

Topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment areas, making this a virtually pain free service.

HOW LONG IS THE MICRONEEDLING APPOINTMENT?

Depending on the number of areas being treated, the appointment can take between 30 minutes to over an hour.

HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS FROM MICRONEEDLING LAST?

Benefits and results are seen over the course of a full year as the skin heals and collagen begins to build. Collagen naturally decreases with time so touch up treatments are recommended about once a year.

PREPARING FOR YOUR MICRONEEDLING APPOINTMENT

The first step of the appointment is to thoroughly cleanse the skin and then apply the topical numbing cream. You will numb for approximately thirty minutes, prior to treatment. Once the time has expired, the numbing cream is removed and the skin is again thoroughly cleansed. After cleansing, the provider will rub the skin with a liquid hyaluronic acid (HA) and begin the treatment. The HA is simultaneously rubbed into the skin, allowing the needles to glide over the skin and provide concentrated hydration to the area.

POST TREATMENT FOR MICRONEEDLING

The day of your microneedling treatment your skin may be red and feel as if you have a mild sunburn.  However, everyone is different and some people don’t get red at all or for very long. Typically by the next day the redness is gone or close to gone.  You can return to normal activities right after your appointment. For the first three days after treatment you will need to carefully follow the skin care guidelines, wear no makeup and be diligent about sunscreen use.

Cost:

Typically microneedling treatments cost $350/session or $300/session for members.  During August only, if you purchase at least three microneedling sessions at once you will get $100 off each session bringing it down to only $250/session or $200/session for members.  We strongly recommend certain skin care products following the treatment. The post-procedure kit is $200 (members get 15% off all skincare products) and the Surge Collagen booster is $150.  Both of these products will greatly increase your results. However, we do have alternative options to fit your budget if that is needed.
