What is a Vampire Facial Anyway?!

The Vampire Facial

The Vampire Facial is a hot trend in the medical aesthetic industry. The process is painless and requires little to no down time. This exclusive treatment infuses your own platelet rich plasma (PRP) into the skin to reveal a younger, smoother and brighter complexion.

What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

PRP is a concentration of platelet-rich plasma proteins derived from the blood. This component of blood contains the healing properties that help to heal wounds when you are injured. Using a centrifuge red blood cells are removed leaving the clear plasma component of blood to be used in this procedure. PRP uses your own natural elements without adding any foreign product or danger of infection. Infusing your own PRP back into your skin has been shown to be an anti-aging powerhouse. PRP stimulates collagen and elastin, promoting tightening, smoothing and firming. It’s also great for acne scars!

The Procedure

The Vampire Facial is a quick and painless procedure that require little to no down time. We start by drawing blood from the patient’s arm; because of the volume of blood drawn and leading edge technology we are able to achieve 5x concentration of PRP for even more powerful results. Next, we apply numbing cream to the patient’s skin for optimal comfort during the treatment. Once the centrifuging (blood spinning process) is complete, we then microneedle the 5x concentration of PRP into the treatment area. After microneedling, the PRP is applied to the treatment area like a mask for best results. Finally, we clean the PRP off of the patient and apply a generous layer of Altar, a post procedure product that is full of antioxidants for optimal wound healing. This entire process takes less than an hour.

What’s Next

For the next few hours the skin will be red, reaching peak redness around the post four hour mark. Mild discomfort and a slight heat sensation are totally normal. Typically all the redness will subside by the next morning. It’s important to follow the suggested post procedure skin care routine and only use clean hands when applying product or touching the skin.

Over the next few days the skin will start to lightly flake, this usually lasts about three days. Each day following the procedure the skin will look better and better. You’ll start to notice bright, smoother and firmer skin in no time. The number of treatments needed depends on the skin concern, however most clients are thrilled with the results after just one treatment. Repeat at least annually for continued results or maintenance. Your skin will thank you for it!
